JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Virtual and Augmented Reality Project

Virtual Reality (VR) 360 allows users an opportunity to travel around the world and see sites that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to experience. That feeling of being immersed in your surroundings creates endless possibilities for VR 360 in the classroom. Not only does VR have the ability to transport students to famous landmarks and places of interest around the world, but it can also help students to understand and comprehend other topics, for example, the complexity of the human body.

We will create an experience, leading students into the world of VR and expose them to the world of theater through VR. This course unit will cover a wide range of Virtual Environments to give students some exposure to the future of this medium and its relationship to theater. By the end of this course, students will:

  • Have a broad understanding of VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality.

  • A deeper understanding of the different types of Virtual Environments.

  • Students will experience some practical applications for VR/AR and carry on a conversation about the medium.

  • Explore the variety of ways in which VR is affecting theater and the entertainment industry as a whole.

  • Introduction to Animation

  • Work on producing a VR/AR experience for distribution.

Theatrical Project

The Showcase will enroll students for its summer theater program. This project is designed to improve youth's lives with meaningful summer work and enrichment opportunities and expose them to the work readiness experience by performing and promoting a public awareness live theater production. This production will present a culturally relevant presentation typifying youth issues & concerns. This public awareness theater production will make our community better informed of youth problems and strategies for addressing these challenges.

Participants as theatre literate citizens will independently and collaboratively use various artistic media, symbols, and metaphors to create, imagine, design, and perform works that express and communicate their own ideas and the ideas of others. As they respond, analyze, and interpret the expressions and ideas of others, theatre-literate citizens will learn to communicate and appreciate ideas, experiences, and beliefs.
